The Inked Traveler

Inked Traveler came to us with a wild idea: blend the rugged beauty of nature with the bold strokes of American traditional tattoos. Make it reflect the artist style, but in our own interpretation. It wasn't your typical outdoor gear brief, but then again, Inked Traveler isn't your typical outdoor brand.

Insight

Outdoor brands all reach for the same well: mountain silhouettes, muted earth tones, the same rugged-minimalist look every other gear company already owns. The Inked Traveler wanted to belong to that world and stand completely apart from it, by running the whole thing through the lens of American traditional tattoo art. The challenge was making two aesthetics that don't obviously go together, wilderness and tattoo flash, feel like one brand instead of a gimmick.

Solution

We built the identity on the collision itself: one part mountain vista, one part tattoo parlor. The logo lives right where adventure meets ink, and a set of custom illustrations tell outdoor stories with the boldness and linework of old-school tattoo flash. The palette does the same double duty, earth tones grounding it in the outdoors, vibrant inks pulling it out of the sea of sameness every other gear brand blends into. The result is an outdoor brand that could only be this one, built from a point of view instead of the category's usual playbook.
