Graphic Designer Gig

Seeking arrangements with a gnarly graphic designer

Josh Sullivan

December 19, 2023

It's that time! We're looking for a sweet graphic designer to join the FDC ranks. Since this is a general and production level position, we'd be more comfortable if it were local, but, hey. We're open to it if it's a perfect fit.

Anyway, job description is below. We're probably squarely in the middle range of affordability for midwestern salary ranges. But, we have a lot of rad perks and are pretty endlessly flexible, so if you're into the vibe, let's chat.

It's not gonna be for everyone, but neither are we, and that's ok.

Company Overview:

We take our bourbon neat. Hot Chicken five stars. Amps overdriven. We prefer bonfires to fire pits. Monster trucks over luxury coups. Our passions in life are the ones teachers said were a waste of time, our relatives didn’t understand, and the pastor, bless his heart, said would lead us to ruination.

We believe in working hard and playing harder. We believe in rock n’ roll. We believe the only path to a nice deep sleep is a hard day’s work and sometimes a hard day’s night. We believe in punching above our weight class. We believe in taking a blue-collar approach to the very cushy job we have of being lucky enough to draw cool stuff for even cooler people. We believe in setting goals, having a good plan, and basking in the glow of accomplishment.

We love clients who like to push buttons, get loud and have some fun doing it. We love to work. It’s what we do when we aren’t working.

Feel like we might be a good fit? Pull up a seat and pour a drink - let’s get started.

Position Overview:

This graphic design position is one of the many vertebrae that make up the FDC backbone. You'll be taking direction from the Creative Director and Art Director in helping bring brands to life. You like to be busy. Like, really busy. And that's good because you're FAST. Lightning quick keystrokes and god mode layout solutions. The brands we build and projects often have tons of moving parts, all needing to be designed out with the end use in mind.

Key Responsibilities:

Collaborate with the team to develop and implement creative design solutions for various projects including branding, digital marketing, print materials, and more.

Design and produce graphic art and visual materials for advertisements, maybe some websites, and other media.

Manage and execute projects from through production and delivery, ensuring that all work is effective, accurate, and delivered on time.

Stay up-to-date with industry trends and tools, and proactively use this knowledge to improve your work and add value to the team.

Participate in brainstorming sessions and creative meetings to develop project strategies and design solutions.

Provide some serious knowledge and guidance in graphic design principles, digital art, and branding.

Qualifications:

Minimum of a few years in a design or advertising shop. If you've ever worked in a screen printing shop or something like that, you're already on the top of the list. It's seriously that fast paced. You'll know what we mean.

Strong understanding of brand design and the creative process.

Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.

Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Proficiency in project management software and tools. We use a lot of Notion.

Experience with Webflow is a big plus (but not required)

Look. You're a really fast, really talented designer with a penchant for rock n' roll. That's what we're looking for.

You're a good hang.

What We Offer:

A collaborative work environment with a team of very passionate, competitive and friendly creatives.

Opportunities for professional growth and development.

Competitive salary.

Fully paid health insurance.

REAL flexible PTO.

Every other Friday off (that seems to be a big one).

*Most* bank holidays off

A chance to work on some super rad stuff in everything from cannabis, alcohol, food, lifestyle and more.
